Mash Bill Scaler

The formula

grain lbs = total batch lbs x (grain percent / 100)

Bourbon must be at least 51% corn by mashbill (27 CFR 5.143). This tool uses the same calculation as the Spirit Sight platform. It is general information, not tax or legal advice.

How do I scale a mashbill to my batch size?
Multiply the total grain weight by each grain percentage divided by 100. For a 1,000 lb batch at 70 percent corn, that is 700 lb of corn.
What is the minimum corn for a bourbon mash bill?
Bourbon must be at least 51 percent corn by mash bill under 27 CFR 5.143. This scaler keeps your percentages explicit so you can confirm the recipe stays compliant.
Do the percentages have to add up to 100?
Yes. If they do not, the calculator flags it so you can correct the recipe before scaling to pounds.
