Grain Yield Calculator

Estimate how much spirit a grain bill should produce. Enter the grain weight and your expected yield per bushel to get proof gallons and an approximate barrel count. Actual yield depends on starch content, conversion, fermentation, and your distillation cut. This planning tool uses the same proof-gallon math as Spirit Sight.

The formula

proof gallons = (grain lbs / lbs per bushel) x PG per bushel

Yield per bushel is an operational estimate (commonly ~5-6 PG/bushel for corn); your real yield depends on your process. This tool uses the same calculation as the Spirit Sight platform. It is general information, not tax or legal advice.

How many proof gallons does a bushel of corn yield?
A common planning estimate is about 5 to 6 proof gallons per 56-pound bushel of corn, but real yield depends on starch content, conversion, fermentation, and your distillation cut.
How many barrels will my grain fill?
Divide the proof gallons produced by the proof gallons per barrel at your entry proof. A 53-gallon barrel at 125 proof holds 66.25 proof gallons, so 6,625 PG fills about 100 barrels.
Why is my actual yield different from the estimate?
Yield per bushel is a planning figure. Real output moves with grain starch content, cook and conversion efficiency, fermentation health, and where you make your distillation cuts, so track actual versus expected to tune the number.
